🔥 Oven temperature inaccurate

EasyStep-by-step troubleshooting guide — 5 steps, Oven, Easy difficulty.

⚠️ Common Causes

Oven thermistor out of calibration, control board issue, bake element partially failed, door seal leak

🔧 Parts to Check

🔧 Troubleshooting Steps

  1. Use oven thermometer — place in center of oven, preheat to 350°F. Compare actual temp to display
✓ Expected: Within ±25°F of set temperature
  2. If off by more than 25°F: recalibrate oven temperature (most brands allow ±35°F adjustment in settings)
    ✓ Expected: Calibrated within tolerance
  3. Test oven thermistor — should read 800-1200Ω at room temp (70°F). If reading OL or 0Ω, replace
    ✓ Expected: 800-1200Ω
  4. Check door seal — close oven door on a dollar bill, should resist pulling out. Weak seal = temp loss
    ✓ Expected: Resists pulling out
  5. Check bake element — should glow evenly. If part of coil is dead, element is partially failed
    ✓ Expected: Full coil glowing
