🌀 GE washer displays F21 error (drain error)

🔧 Troubleshooting Steps

1. Clean the drain pump filter (bottom front of washer, behind the small round access panel). Remove the cap, drain water, clear debris
   ✓ Expected: Filter clean
2. Check the drain hose routing — GE requires the hose to be no higher than 96 inches from the floor
   ✓ Expected: Hose within height spec
3. If F21 persists, check the drain pump impeller. GE drain pumps have a known issue where the impeller breaks or the impeller shaft shears
   ✓ Expected: Impeller intact, shaft not sheared
4. If the impeller is intact, check the pressure switch. GE washers use a diaphragm-type pressure switch on the top of the tub. A stuck diaphragm causes false readings
   ✓ Expected: Diaphragm free in housing
5. If all above check out, the drain pump motor may be failing. GE front-load washers (GTW series) commonly need drain pump replacement after 6-8 years
   ✓ Expected: New pump, F21 cleared
