♨️ Dryer taking too long to dry

EasyStep-by-step troubleshooting guide — 6 steps, Dryer, Easy difficulty.

⚠️ Common Causes

Vent blocked or too long, heating element partially failed, thermal fuse partially open, moisture sensor dirty, overloading

🔧 Parts to Check

🔧 Troubleshooting Steps

  1. Check vent duct — disconnect from dryer, verify good airflow. Clean lint from entire run. Max length: 25ft (2 elbows = 5ft deduction)
    ✓ Expected: Clear airflow, lint-free
  2. Clean lint filter every load — a partially clogged filter restricts airflow dramatically
    ✓ Expected: Filter clean
  3. Check moisture sensor bars (inside drum) — clean with rubbing alcohol. Dirty bars = dryer thinks clothes are still wet
✓ Expected: Sensor bars clean and shiny
  4. Verify dryer is producing heat — use oven thermometer in drum, should reach 120-150°F on high heat
    ✓ Expected: 120-150°F
  5. Check heating element — inspect for broken coils. Test resistance: 10-30Ω
    ✓ Expected: 10-30Ω, no breaks
  6. Check load size — don't overload. Dryer needs room for air circulation. Max ¾ full
    ✓ Expected: Load not overloaded
